Apple har annonsert lanseringen av Logic Pro 12.3, en oppdatering til dere flaggskip-DAW. Blant nyhetene finner vi forbedringer for to standardplugger: Sample Alchemy og Beat Breaker, en oppgradering av det AI-drevne analyseverktøyet Chord ID, og en hel rekke andre justeringer og forbedringer. Oppdateringen gjelder enten du har en eldre lisens Logic Pro eller har den gjennom abonnementet på Apple Creator Studio.

• Option-clicking the A/B/C/D buttons in Alchemy now solos the source.

ARA

• ARA now handles comps correctly when saving and reloading.

Automation

• Stepped automation lines are now drawn with consistent thickness both horizontally and vertically.
• Resolves an issue where CC64 automation recorded from a MIDI controller could contain unexpected automation points.
• Resolves an issue where selecting an automation point could also select an adjacent point.
• Stretching automation with a region now produces predictable results.
• Repeated clicks on the automation sub-lane disclosure triangle now respond to every click.
• Automation ramps now behave correctly after a repeated section.

Bounce, Export and Sharing

• Exporting multiple regions as audio files can now be cancelled.
• The Include Tempo Information option is now dimmed in the Bounce dialog when no PCM file type is selected.
• Fixes an issue where Export All Tracks as Audio Files would append «_1» to filenames on the first export.
• «My Info» now populates ID3 tags on export.

Control Surfaces and MIDI Controllers

• Fixes an issue where inserting a new Controller Assignment Mode could shift assignments of existing Mode Changes.
• Resolves an issue where deleting a device from a multi-device Control Surface Setup would shift Mode Change assignments to the wrong modes.
• Mackie Control support now receives feedback when Sends on Faders is toggled in the Mixer.

Drummer and Drum Machine Designer

• It is now possible to copy and paste pads in Drum Machine Designer.
• Drum Machine Designer Input Notes are now correct when copying a Folder Track that contains a DMD track.
• The Drum Kit Designer kit piece info pane now shows the correct information on first open.
• The Drum Kit Designer now scrolls to the selected Kit Piece on initial selection.
• Resolves an issue where adding a Drummer track during cycle playback could cause the Drummer to play out of sync.
• Fixes an issue where Drummer would play out of sync when an Apple Loop is dragged in during playback.

Editing

• There is now an option to display Foreground Grid Lines so the grid is visible through region content.
• Position and Length/Info columns in the Event List now show the correct units.
• The Velocity tool value readout popover in the Piano Roll now shows a consistent size.
• Fixes an issue where Assign Track Color would also display the Track Color Bar.
• Joined regions are now drawn with the correct color.
• Program change indicators on regions are now easier to read.
• When a new track is created with a patch, the patch is now loaded into the new track in the correct folder rather than into the recording track.
• Q-Range now produces consistent results at non-zero values.
• The Join Regions key command now combines looped regions as expected.

• There is a new Smart Tempo pop-up menu in the Region Inspector to allow Flex without using file tempo. File tempo information will be ignored when using Flex with File Tempo switched to Off.
• It is now possible to manually enter the tempo of an audio file in the region inspector.
• Flex markers are now retained when Flex is toggled off and on for grouped tracks.
• Fixes an issue where Reset All could create visual Flex Pitch note artifacts.
• Fixes an issue where a Tempo Flex Marker could be added when adding a file that has no tempo changes.
• Resolves an issue where Undo of Flatten Take Folder could reset Flex Pitch.
• Flex edits in the Track Editor are now propagated to grouped tracks when using Takes.

• Resolves an issue where Chase Notes could briefly play notes that extend beyond the end of a region when Clip Length is on.
• Sustain Pedal Merge recordings now show the correct result when the song start is moved before bar 1.
• Resolves an issue where hanging notes could occur when playing a nested software instrument summing stack.

• The selected Input Device in the Project Chooser is now carried over to a newly created project.
• Recording now takes place on the focused track when multiple tracks share the same Channel Strip.
• Resolves an issue where new projects could show a «Record folder ‘(null)’ not found!» alert when recording is started.

Chord ID

• Chord ID now reliably identifies chords on Intel-based Macs.

Sampler, Quick Sampler, and Sample Alchemy

• The «Save with audio data» Sampler setting now retains its state.
• Resolves an issue where Sample Alchemy playheads could break after cancelling the quit (or save) dialog.
• Inertial scrolling in the Sampler mapping editor is now smooth.
• The Sampler Mod Matrix can now be scrolled reliably.
• The Sample pop-up menu in Sample Alchemy now offers a larger clickable area.

Smart Tempo

• Control-clicking an audio region in the Smart Tempo Editor now offers an «Is a Loop» property to create constant tempo for the region and round it to the nearest bar.
• Changes to Downbeat hints or beat hints in the Smart Tempo editor are automatically applied without the need to manually apply.
• Undo in the Smart Tempo Editor now works as expected for MIDI regions.
• The Apply Changes button in the Smart Tempo Editor now lights orange after a hint is set.
• The Apply Changes button now remains visible when the Smart Tempo Editor is opened in an external editor.
• Smart Tempo Project Settings labels have been renamed for clarity.

Sound Library

• Restores the ability for the Media Browser to display the bottom file when previewing audio.
• Restores the ability of the Loops Browser to display the bottom loop when previewing audio.
• WAV file previews now play accurately to the end.
• Resolves an issue where the Sound Browser offline view shows ‘not connected to the internet’ in certain circumstances
• Resolves an issue where orphaned patches could remain in the Logic Library after migration and deletion.
• Fixes an issue where clicking the Size column in Manage Packs could trigger a dialog after all packs had been downloaded.
• Sound Browser pack previews and videos now use the output device set in Logic preferences.

Spatial Audio

• Dolby Atmos mp4-encoded files can now be created from any compatible project.
• Dolby Atmos ADM BWF files now have a consistent channel count as expected.

Takes and Comping

• Tab to Transient now works on takes inside Comp folders.
• Switching from Quick Swipe to Editing mode in a Take folder with grouped tracks now redraws correctly.
• Resolves an issue where focus could jump to the song start when renaming a Take region directly.

Track Stacks

• The Input Monitoring button on Audio Track Stack track headers can now be switched on and off.

General

• Resolves an issue where failed assertions could occur when opening certain projects.
• Sorting in the Project Audio window now works as expected.
• Removes the unnecessary «Are you sure about using EXACTLY 60 fps?» alert.
• Smart Controls Automapping is now triggered correctly regardless of the Audio Unit plug-in’s slot position.
• Key Signature updates are now saved to the project template.
• The Project Management Consolidate function has been improved
• Project asset import settings are now saved as default.
• Fixes an issue where creating a new project while another is open could show duplicate alerts.
• The progress bar now correctly reflects save status.
• There is now a control-click menu item to set the time for the last selected tempo event.
• Markers and Arrangement Markers can now be selected together.
• The Duplicate Track button is now user-configurable, to choose between duplicating and duplicating with content.
• Fixes an issue where deleting unreferenced audio files would not account for audio files in project alternatives.
